THE SHOW MUST GO ON: LUX Style Awards announces nominations in 28 categories

The LUX Style Awards office announced nominations in 28 categories this week for the year 2019. Nominations in the categories of Fashion, Film, Music, and Television were announced for the 19th LUX Style Awards.

Due to the pandemic, the voting with the jurors for the four categories was conducted online, and overseen by auditors, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC).

Earlier this year, the LUX Style Awards team had announced a postponement of the annual event and pledged to support those in the entertainment and fashion industry impacted the most by the on-going pandemic. LSA redirected show funds and partnered with the Akhuwat Foundation, to support the impacted members of these industries.

Asima Haq,  Director, Beauty and Personal Care at Unilever Pakistan says, “Conceived 20 years ago as a platform focused on celebrating and promoting the entertainment and fashion industries of the country, the LUX Style Awards are considered the epitome of glamour in Pakistan. Earlier this year, we took a call to redirect funds to support those who have worked tirelessly to make LSA the legacy that it is today. Through this decision, we were able to support some of the groups in the entertainment industry that were worst impacted by the pandemic.

However, keeping up with the LSA vision of honoring and recognizing exceptional work in the fields of fashion, music, television and drama, we will be awarding the coveted LSA trophies to the winners this year.”

The LUX Style Awards is an annual event held to honour the best in the fields of Fashion, Film, Music and television. The winners for the 19th LUX Style Awards will be announced in a befitting virtual ceremony later this year.

Karachi Eat 2020 – Top 20 picks to look forward to this year at #KhiEat20

Karachi Eat 2020  is just a day away and we all are excited. Baap of all the food festivals is back. Like every year, it’s getting bigger and better than the previous one. Last year’s 90 eateries are now 115 this year.  More options to have more food , means more confusion in what to pick and what not to pick? I was part of Karachi Eat Official Jury this time and trust me it was not an easy task to pick these 115 from more than 300 plus eateries.

10th, 11th & 12th are the dates Karachi Eat 2020 is taking place at Beach view Park. While writing this I am thinking about all the star dishes I had during the jury session for #KhiEat20. Man! I am salivating already.

Karachi Eat 2020 – My Picks this year

So I am all set to spill the beans . All the eateries mentioned below raised the bar a lil high for me during the #KhiEat20 tasting, one way or an other. Mostly it was taste though. Oh and these tastings made me gain 10 kgs in a month. So you can see how good the food could be. Feel free to give your suggestion, or your feedback at the comments section below. The list is not in any order, its just that which ever I recalled first while typing this.

1.The Brownie Wizard.

The Brownie wizard is an online eatery who are satisfying people’s sweet tooth. Intertwining flavor and textures into sensational dessert is their specialty. They have got amazing brownies, something you wont stop yourself from. One of the best baked brownies I have had so far, and they have different flavours. Catch them at Karachi Eat 2020. Their Star dish is Brookvich . Catch them at stall 11

2. Tikyani

How can we miss biryani when it comes to any feast, any festival? But what if the Biryani gets a fusion with an other of your favorite desi thing, Tikka. Tikyani is the combination of Tikka and Biyrani,  and its not like the one available at saddar near passport office, where they put tikka on top of biryani. The taste is already infused in it. Dont believe me, you must try this.  My verdict during tasting was 9/10. They are at stall 17.

3. Churrosity.

Delicious, Crispy and fresh. The Churros which left everyone craving for more is coming back to Karachi Eat, and this time with a special twist. Marhaba Ramzan! A must Iftar affair at before it ends.

Marhaba Ramzan is one Iftar affair, I am in truly in love with. So I went for an Iftar at Beach Luxury Hotel, and I was amazed to see the open air set up for the iftar, right next to the beach front. It was a grandeur set up done at Beach luxury hotel for Marhaba Ramzan Iftar.

The only thing I regret was the traffic I got to reach there, and I reached there just a bit before iftar and couldn’t enjoy the proper sunset, but my regret was no longer there after seeing the setup and the variety they had been offering.

So the Iftar had a whole Chaat station, where you can make your own chaat, and this was something new to me, I literally loved it. I am not a big fan of fried items (anymore) in iftar, that’s why I love these kinda items.

people were picking their favorite items to make their plates ready before iftar. I took a round of all the food options available there and made myself a bowl of Chaat, and other condiments. Drinks were already there at the table. We broke our fast, did the 1st round of food and then I needed chai. Luckily we had the proper pakki hui chai, (the pathan one ) available at Beach Luxury Hotel. I had 2 cups, coz ek tou much needed, and 2ndly, Kya zaiqa tha, maza agaya

Next was the main course, now there were so many choices from Fish to katakat, pineapple chicken to teriyaki beef. What to eat , and what not to eat. I tried to have a bite or two from each and everything. Pineapple chicken was yum, and so was katakat. Other items were good too but I was too full to have anything else.

There was a dessert bar as well, which I only saw and couldnt have anything coz ek tou diabetes dusra pait mai gunjaish nai. By the way, 2nd option is more appropriate coz I keep on doing the bad parhezi , as usual.

My verdict of Marhaba Ramzan

If you are looking forward to having something good and in a peaceful environment with your friends and family. During these last few days of Ramzan, I would suggest to go and try Beach Luxury’s Marhaba Ramzan. It’s not that expensive and its an experience you would love to have, and you would get a free boat ride as well. So what are you waiting for?

Avari Towers’ Asia Live Iftar after 2 years

I got a chance to have iftar at Avari Towers’ Asia live after 2 years. I was looking forward to have the same taste and quality I used to have here before leaving Pakistan. Quickly coming back to how was the food. Ooh lala , mama mia, I loved being back here.

Iftar at Avari Towers’ Asia Live

Coming to the food, everything was there, you name it and they had it . For Iftar, each and everything, you would ask for, was present. I loved the Dahi phulki and chana chat, Palak kay pakorey. There were a different type of dates available too and man, these are the only dates I am wild about.

Dinner at Avari Towers’ Asia Live

Round 2 was dinner, Although, jazbat mai we were already were filled with iftar coz why not. so I had to take a good 5 minutes to walk to go to the dinner section. Avari Towers’ Asia Live, has always so many options that you get confused. Kya Kya Khayein? Beef Biryani is my weakness, so I had to have that. There was lamb along with rice too, and that tasted Yuuuummmmm. Moving ahead with other dishes, the noticeable thing along with all Pakistani dishes was Sushi. I mean aahhhmmaazing, Koun krta hai aessyy, ek ticket mai do mazey.

Salads & drinks

Not only the food but the salad station was quite huge, with so many options to pick and leave. I especially the love options of picking your favorite cheese, amongst the others. For a moment I wanted to be Jerry from Tom & Jerry.

Did I mention the kind of sharbat we get there during Iftar and then dinner? Lal Sharbat is the compulsory one, but other than that we had sandal and mint lemonade. All of them were refreshing and energizing.

Last but not least, the gigantic dessert bar. For 5 minutes I was just standing there and wanted to eat all of that. but thanks to my diabetes, I had to be very careful. I Laauved every item of it, especially the cakes.

Well well well, I would say, its a must try if you are looking for quality and quantity at one place. It’s 3195 plus tax per person, and you still have time to go and try it. Just make sure, you have enough appetite to have all this, coz I wasn’t able to try all the things on the buffet. I wanted more, but my tummy was Like, bus bhai bus, zaida baat nai chief saab, ab aur koi cheez ka sawal nai cheif saab.

Experiessence! An organic Experience or just another soap?

Remember, sometime in the last week of Feb 2019, I shared an Image on my Instagram about receiving a PR package. The Experiessence soaps I posted and I said I would review them in 10 to 15 days. Guess what? I was wrong. I couldn’t review them in 10 days. It required more time to get my hands on experience with these organic soaps. Now since I have given enough time to both of them, I guess I am ready to share my 2 cents on them. I will be dividng the review in small segments talking about each thing .

Shape and packaging of Experiessence.

The organic soaps from Experience come in different shapes and forms, Some of them are so beautiful that you won’t even want to use them. Rather you would want them to put on the corner table as a decor element. The soaps came in these cute small tulles net fabric, perfect if you want to give it to someone.

Experiessence soap

Candy Soap & Honey Lime Salt

So, i had received two soaps. Candy soap and Honey Lime salt. Candy soap has avocado and grape seed oil. It consists of skin nutrients to brighten, lighten & nourish! Grape seed oil soothes the skin and Avacado oil boosts the collagen, delays aging, softens skin and effective to reduce any skin inflammation and blackhead control

Experiessence candy soap

Honey lime salt soap is best to cleanse impurities, such as pimples and acne, from the skin while also improving the blood circulation for that extra glow

My verdict on Experiessence !

It took me a lot of time to finally come on the verdict. The review, was due in 15 days. I had to delay it and use the soaps properly to write anything about them.

The Candy soap wins the contest, at least for me. I loved the fragrance of the soap as well as the color too. I cant really say about age delaying on only one soap bar, but the blackheads are seemingly in control with its use. My skin feels good, and I do find it soft than before. in short, I find my skin doing better than before, after I stopped using my regular facewash and started using this.

Honey Lime salt, the only thing I dont like about it was its fragrance, but I guess, I cant do anything about it, since its the natural smell. I was getting acne lately, and use of this soap, actually helped me in eliminating that. Glow is surely there on my skin ( you guys can see my recent pics and videos ) . Overall , its good to go.

Do I recommend the Experiessence?

Well, certainly yes, its a good to go product for me. I surely recommend it. But, there is a thing about it. Do not expect the result with in a week. You need to use this for atleast 3 weeks to get visible results. Thats why it took me time to write this. What more I can say, you need to experience it too.

Sultan The Royal Eatery! Royal Experience? Lets Find out

The day has started on a very slow note, and by lunchtime, I was bored to death. To brighten up my day, I called my Food Monster buddy the next building. Less than5 minutes, and we were already off to explore something new. Well, at least to me. We ended up at Sultan The Royal Eatery, at Tipu Sultan road. Running through the streets we reached there in our lunch time and well, It looked good on outside.

Lets get inside Eatery. 1 2 3 Go !

The interior of the place is done quite artistically, I like the paintings on the walls, the colour schemes used in for the decor, the placing of tables and the centre stand where they place crockery before serving on the table. The only thing I would want over here would be a little more lightening. I would want some more light, not only for the good photographs but also for the ambience to look more lively and pleasant. I am saying this as I have seen the potential of getting good pictures there . ( Cant help noticing the place for my pics coz I am my favourtie)

Sultan The Royal Eatery! Let’s chec

Since, we were too hungry, we couldn’t help ordering a lot. For Starters we had Crispy Beef. In Main course we had variety. We ordered Palak Paneer, Tarragon Chicken, and Bangkok Chilli Chicken. In beverages we had Passion Mojito and fresh Orange Juice and in dessert we had Cream Brulee along with bread pudding with Ice cream . Phew, isnt that too much for two people. Well we were too hungry to think about this.

My Verdict on the food.

CRISPY BEEF – Its nothing like the normal crispy beef you will find the Chinese eateries in the town. It has a fusion of desi taste in it and man , I love this fusion.

TARRAGON CHICKEN was quite a save, it tasted like any other one we get around the town. The next was BANGKOK CHILLI CHICKEN served with the vegetable rice and man, I loved the rice, such khilay khilay, khobsurat chawal, cooked to the perfection.

PALAK PANEER was served with Roghni Nan. I just missed the sight of good chunks of Paneer in Palak paneer which I am used to of. It tasted fine, but improvement can be done which was conveyed to the chef .

Juices were 10 out of 10. Dessert was fine, Cream Brulee was again different from the most available but still, I can eat that 4 5 servings. Bread pudding was a bit hard and different in the look but was find in taste. I like gelato part of it more

What’s next at Sultan The Royal Eatery?

TNT Cafe! Achi Chai, Acha khana ya phir Sirf hangout ka ek bahana?

TNT cafe is apparently the new kid on the block and honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to be really good ( Coz last two experience of launches were meh ) . Going around the city on Saturday for various events, TNT was our last spot of the day. Want to know, how was TNT Cafe? well keep reading.

The TNT Cafe

Last Saturday, was the launch of this newly established cafe at Bukhari Commercial.he place looks quite small if you go during the day time. The party starts at the evening. The Chairs come out on the plot in from and the screen is set for the PSL screening People gather to shed the tiredness of the entire day over a cup of tea.

Among others, me and 2 other friends were invited at the launch too.. Adeela and Manal , played were the hosts for the night and they were so welcoming. We got ourselves a table, we looked around and saw a great number of audience present at the launch.

Whats the menu?

We were given a long menu to pick whatever we would like to have. Looking at the menu we got confused, as there were so many options. Each and everyone looked better than the previous. After getting enough confused, we called for a lifeline. We asked Adeela, to help us in this, and she suggested we should order the specialties. The idea sounded good, but we needed Chai first. So, we called for Chai, meanwhile, we were looking at the specialties. We had called for their TNT Special Chai.

While , our chai was in preparation, we shortlisted, what we wanted to try. We ordered Lemon Masala Fries, Charsi Tikka, Afghani Boti, Peri Peri p , Shwarma Platter and Nutella paratha. Yup, this is a lot of food, but we were very hungry hoomans and we could have eaten anything at that time.

How’s the Taste?

Chai, as it was served first was quite good ( we couldnt help ourselves having 3 cups each ) . Now coming towards the main food, Lemon Masala Fries were amazing, this was the first time I was having Lemon masala fries and I loved the tangy flavor spiced up with chat masala. The Afghani boti was yum, perfectly tender and juicy to the perfection. Loved munching on that. Charsi Tikka was equally spicy and delicious. The chicken was quite soft and was easy to eat in bites.

Verdit on TNT

Since I take my tea very seriously, I would surely recommend this place for the tea and the charsi tikka and Afghani boti. In Short, This place has my vote for them. For sure, I got a new place to hang out with my friends. Looking forward to more outings at TNT cafe.

Sals The Eatery! Sasta, Sundar, Tikkaou, Just the way I want it.

When Foodies go on the loose, they need something to be fulfilling the hunger . Also something to satisfy the craving of trying something new, scrumptiously deliciously Finger licking good. Ok, that was too much but hey, something near to that. Went to Sals the Eatery, to enjoy something from their menu during our lunch time coz khappa is a must.. ( Jee haan, review scene hai )
Sals the eatery, is a relatively a new kid on the block. Whereas I had seen them on coke Fest, but didn’t get a chance to try them.( Pait itna bhar chuka tha k jaga nai thi).  So today was the day to try that out.

Sals the eatery!

We reached there by the lunchtime, and ordered, mac n Cheese with a twist, Burgerzilla, and Holy Smoke.
Meanwhile, they were preparing our order, we were learning the menu by heart. Also occasionally looking around to admire the nice, cozy interior of Sals the eatery. ( Minus the time, we were taking stupis selfies and doing our photoshoot)

Mac n Cheese with a twist!

Mac n Cheese, with a brand new twist.

Food didnt take much time in getting ready, ( itni Jaldi tou aj kal kay larkey bhi tyar nai hotey). The first one to come and say Hi to us was Mac n Cheese with a twist. When I say twist, it actually was a twist. I guess, Mac n cheese had a recent tour to one of our Fashion shows and upgraded the style. Actually, While they were serving that, I ended up saying ” Bhai, humny tou ye patty order nai ki thi“. The smile I got on that was enough to tell me, Boss Bhand mar diya hai.

Well, you can see in the picture, why would I have said that. Ab mai terha Masoom sa foodie. I had not the slightest idea That mac and cheese can be upgraded to this look. Never the less, it tasted really nice. The only thing I felt was that it was Mac n Cheese has gone way too Calorie conscious with this new sleek look as the cheese content was a bit lil then regular. It gets 8 marks on the Food and plus 1 for the new outfit, making that 9 out of 10.

Holy Smoke!

It could be a perfect scenario, if the burger was served with lots of Smoke and background song. “Sham hai Dhuwan Dhuwan”  but obviously neither I am Ajay Devgan , nor the burger was poornima from Diljale . It was quite a big burger and actually quite loaded. The ingredients were obviously more than just the patty and bun. It had Juicy smoked beef patty which was laid on the bed of iceberg lettuce, topped with Cheese, Smoked beef pepperoni, onion rings and Sals Special BBQ sauce (as they call it ).

In short, Udham cheez Boss. It was actually quite big for an average person to finish it (No, I am not talking about me). Coming towards the taste. Well it actually tantalized my tastebuds. I could taste all the ingredients in that, not a single beat was missing. Spices were to perfection, so is the patty. It was a bit sloppy to eat it, but the experience was cheery. 10 out of 10 goes to this goodly fat baby.

Our last order for lunch was Burgerzilla. As it was served, I couldn’t stop myself saying, “this mammoth must be named Junior Godzilla”. ( Such a blabbermouth I am ) This one was slightly big thenHoly Smoke. It had everything almost same as of Holy Smoke except for the patty was double and pepperoni has been replaced by beef bacon. It was a superb American style and being a chatora one, i would like it to adapt desi culture asap.

The double patty needs a proper technique to be eaten. The technique is that, there is no technique, All you need is to keep your etiquette aside and eat it shamelessly . Since its too Wadeshi for a typical desi like me, I would go for a Purrrfecccctt (Please do this in Madhuri Style) 8.

My verdict

As I mentioned in the main title, Sasta, sundar and tikkaou, Just the way I like it. Its pocket-friendly ( Qasmaay ) , Large portions ( for normal appetite ) and courteous Staff ( Nice souls they are) . Its a cozy place. I am looking forward to visit them sometime soon. Meanwhile You can try this out too . Its situated at Khayaban e Shahbaz
